All members of the Harvard community are welcome to audition for the opportunity to play in the Wind Ensemble. Auditions are generally held in the fall semester during the first week on campus or throughout the year by appointment. Auditions are meant to be low-stress, and mostly an opportunity for us to hear you play. 

This year, auditions will take place on Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th, 2025 at 74 Mt. Auburn St. 

Audition requirements consist of the following:

• One prepared piece or excerpt to demonstrate musicianship and technique (between 2-3 minutes).
• One piece for sight-reading, chosen at audition time.
• Percussionists: Auditions on these dates will not be necessary. Instead, your playing will be evaluated at the first rehearsal with the ensemble on Tuesday, September 9th from 7PM-9:15PM at Lowell Lecture Hall. Please send an email with your name and your intent to be at the first rehearsal to harvard.we@gmail.com. 

Limited instruments are available to use for auditions. Please contact Band Director Mark Olson in advance if you will need to borrow an instrument.
